- My Approach
I operate from the belief that everyone is capable of change and growth regardless of where one is at in life, or what one has been through. However, how one achieves the change and growth desired is an important factor to consider.
Whether seeing individuals or couples, I utilize a systemic approach, which views the individual in relation both to others and to self. This holistic approach utilizes a wide range of concepts including psychodynamic and cognitive behavioral approaches, and organizes those concepts into a theoretical framework that provides a roadmap to change and growth.
When working with clients, I help them explore the various intellectual and emotional processes contributing to the present issue. These processes may stem from traumatic experiences in the past, dysfunctional family patterns, past relationships, or learned beliefs and behaviors. In examining the processes, I help clients discover how they can manage and resolve these conflicts, creating healthier patterns and finding freedom from old wounds. I often utilize EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) therapy to help resolve such conflicts and restore healthy internal and relational processes.
When counseling teens, I like to work with the parents, as the parents are the leaders in the family. Parents can be a great advocate and resource for their teen as they continue to grow. I enjoy working with parents to help them understand the family relational processes that may be contributing to their teen’s emotional challenges.
This approach has helped to facilitate long-lasting change, rather than merely providing symptom-management for my clients. If you are interested in learning more about my approach and how it may be of help to you, please do not hesitate to call or email me. - Fees and Scheduling
Fees and Scheduling
I provide services on a weekly and bi-weekly basis. I have found that therapy is most effective and efficient when regular appointment times are kept. I offer appointments during the weekdays, select evenings, and Saturdays depending on need and availability.
Payment for each session is due at the time services are rendered. I accept cash, check, or credit cards. Checks can be made payable to Elizabeth Heuertz. My fees are as follows:
*Individual Therapy: My fees for individual therapy are $130 for the initial one-hour session. Subsequent session fees are $120 per 60-minute session and $165 per 90-minute session.
*Couple/Family Therapy: My fees for couple/family therapy are $140 for the initial one-hour session. Subsequent session fees are $130 per 60-minute session and $175 per 90-minute session. Couple/family therapy includes any therapy done within the context of a couple/family case, which may include individual sessions.
I do not accept insurance and do not participate in any insurance networks. If you would like to submit receipts to your insurance company for reimbursement according to your benefits, I can provide you with the appropriate documentation to do so.
Should you have any questions or concerns regarding my fees, I would be happy to discuss them with you. You are always welcome to call or email me, or click here to register with my secure portal and send secure messages.
