About My Services
Welcome! Deciding on a therapist to guide, challenge, and encourage you on your journey is the first step in the process of healing and growth that can come from therapy. I would be honored serve you and your loved ones if you find that my services fit your needs.
I received my Bachelors of Science degree in Psychology from Texas A&M University and my Masters of Arts degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from St. Mary’s University in San Antonio. I have previous clinical experience at the Children’s Bereavement Center of South Texas, the Family Life Center at St. Mary’s University, and the Department of Family Services in San Antonio.
Throughout my professional career, I have held a safe therapeutic space for individuals, couples, and families to learn about their own emotions, understand others, and develop stronger bonds within their relationships. I see relationships as the foundation for our knowledge of self and of the world. In therapy, I enjoy using expressive arts and strength-based techniques to encourage creativity, self-acceptance and autonomy.
I offer services for children (ages 7 and up), families, couples and adult individuals. My prior experience has allowed me to work with a range of clinical concerns including:
Please call or email me so we can talk more about your specific concerns and how I could be of service to you or your loved ones.
The therapeutic relationship is one of the main building blocks for successful therapy. In our first few sessions, my goal is to establish a welcoming and safe therapeutic space for you and your family. I hope to learn more about you and your concerns as together we discover the different factors that could be contributing to the identified problem.
After we have set therapeutic goals together, I will determine what modality of treatment would be best for you and/or your family. I work from a few main treatment modalities, which are:
Functional Family Therapy
Emotionally Focused Family Therapy
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
What is Play Therapy?
For developmental reasons, children tend to have more difficulty with traditional talk therapy. In order to break through developmental boundaries, I use play in therapy to help children better communicate with me and to help me better communicate with them. Play therapy helps build the therapeutic relationship and fosters a sense of autonomy and self-efficacy in children. It is an expressive tool for children to discuss otherwise overwhelming topics. I think it is also important that parents learn some non-directive play therapy techniques to use at home, and will encourage parents to be involved in elements of certain play therapy sessions. Play can include art, sand, acting, and lots and lots of creativity.

I would be happy to write school excuse notes if we schedule a session during the school day.

Payment is due at the end of each session. I do not take insurance, but will accept cash, check, or credit card. Checks should be made payable to Intuitus Group Counseling Clinic or IGCC.
