Hello, I am Lorraine (Lorrie) Saldivar. Thank you for taking the time to learn more about my practice and to consider whether I may be of help to you or someone you love.
I provide counseling to individuals age 16 and older. My work is particularly focused on attachment and relationship patterns, trauma, and the ways our past experiences can continue to affect how we experience ourselves, others, and the world around us.
I believe that you are the expert on your own life. My role is to walk alongside you with curiosity, compassion, and respect as we work to understand what you are experiencing, identify what you want for your life, and address the experiences or patterns that may be getting in the way.
Areas of Experience
My experience and areas of interest include, but are not limited to:
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC). While I do not provide substance-use treatment as a primary service, my training and experience in the addictions field inform my work with individuals and families affected by addiction.
I work with family members who are struggling with codependency, boundaries, and how to support a loved one who is experiencing addiction, as well as with individuals who have been in recovery for six months or longer and are ready to explore trauma, attachment, family-of-origin experiences, or other underlying issues that may be important to their continued growth.
For individuals who are newer to recovery or who are currently needing treatment for active substance use, I can help with referrals to appropriate substance-use treatment providers. Learn more about EMDR Therapy Learn more about Deep Brain Reorienting.

I use an attachment-focused, Internal Family Systems (IFS), person-centered, and holistic approach to therapy.
I believe our mental, physical, emotional, relational, and spiritual well-being are deeply interconnected. I seek to understand not only what is happening in your life today, but also how your family-of-origin experiences, relationships, temperament, and past experiences may have shaped the ways you understand yourself and respond to the world around you.
Together, we will explore your past experiences, your present circumstances, and your hopes for the future. When possible, we work toward healing what happened in the past so that it does not have to continue determining how you experience the present or approach the future.
My goal is not simply to help you manage symptoms. I want to help you develop a deeper understanding of yourself, recognize the patterns that have developed for understandable reasons, and move toward greater freedom and the ability to pursue the life and relationships you desire.
I work with individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, crisis, relationship and attachment concerns, and the effects of past or recent trauma. Attachment is a particular area of focus in my practice, including the ways early relationships and experiences can influence our sense of safety, connection, self-worth, boundaries, and relationships throughout life.
When appropriate, I incorporate EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and Deep Brain Reorienting (DBR) to help clients process traumatic experiences and the emotional, cognitive, and physiological responses associated with them. These approaches can be particularly helpful when past experiences continue to trigger distress in the present.
I also recognize the importance of spirituality for many people. While I do not serve as a spiritual director, I am comfortable working with clients for whom faith and spiritual well-being are an important part of their understanding of themselves and their lives.
I offer private counseling to individuals on a weekly, biweekly, or semi-monthly basis, as well as intensive sessions of two to three hours. Intensive sessions are scheduled after the initial one-hour intake session.
In general, therapy is most effective when we meet consistently, allowing us to maintain momentum and work toward your goals.
Appointments are available Monday through Wednesday between 10:45 AM and 5:00 PM, with the last session beginning at 3:45 PM.
I do not accept insurance. Payment is due at the time services are rendered. I accept cash, check, HSA, and credit cards.
My fee is $175 for a 60-minute individual session. Based on availability, I am able to offer a limited number of reduced-fee appointments.
